New International Payment System - BRICS Pay
Joys are actively participating in the creation of the New International Payment System - BRICS Pay.
The objective is to protect the BRICS nations from external financial shocks and unfair competition from leading international payment systems. Make transactions seamless between different BRICS countries and various types of clients (b2b, b2c, c2b, p2p, p2g, b2g, m2m), using existing national solutions without imposing new standards and allowing for the use of national solutions without forcing market players to comply with new standards or some foreign solutions. Create and promote a new New International Payment System - BRICS Pay based on the BRICS plus formula.
BRICS Pay is a payment system with cloud platform of switches of national payment systems of the BRICS countries for cross-border payments in digital format, including blockchain technology. BRICS Pay will be used for seamless integration of national payment systems based on national currencies into the overall payment network through the creation of a single gateway with an open architecture.
The BRICS Pay development operator must develop a router for processing money transfer requests sent in by NIPS BRICS Pay participants. The router must be capable of tracking and generating payment positions and working with several clearing centers (at least one in every participating country) while supporting a variety of currencies when converting national currency rates into the NUA (New Unit of Account). The router must allow the operators to set and keep track of rates, limits within the countries and between the countries participating in the New International Payment System BRICS Pay.
The router must have a micro-service architecture so that the various elements of the system can be modified and updated individually without affecting the operation of the overall system and without the various elements affecting each other's functions. The router must have architecture protecting it against the impact of external limitations and sanctions while ensuring the confidentiality of the information being transmitted and allowing for regulated access to said information based, among other things, on country flags while making it completely impossible to manipulate or distort data.
At the moment Joys Digital suggested that solutions that have been used and proved their worth in the financial sector should be used, specifically solutions utilizing distributed ledger technologies with open source licenses, such as Hyperledger Sawtooth or Hyperledger Fabric. This approach will allow us to deploy BRICS Pay in the shortest period of time possible and at minimal cost while ensuring: resilience to external sanctions, the ability to continue to operate despite technical malfunctions in the nodes of the system, easy scalability, embedded confidentiality, and information security. Access to information must be defined by rules set by BRICS Pay project participants themselves.
We developed the concept and architecture of the BRICS Pay payment system based on a mobile application and blockchain technology. We took direct part in the development of presentations and reports at various international events on the creation of the BRICS Pay payment system.
Joys Digital team presented by the CEO Andrey Mikhaylishin and the CVO Vladimir Tolmachov took part in BRICS Business Council and BRICS Business Forum at BRICS Summit. Both events were held in South Africa.
Joys together with the Association of Russian Banks (ARB) and FORA-BANK demonstrate how the purchase using the New International Payment System (NIPS) BRICS Pay will look like. The demonstration purchase made in a wine boutique Classica in Moscow. Mobile application and integration with cash register software was performed by the Joys Digital team.

RACIB is an association of developers and users of blockchain technology and products created on its basis for the development of the digital economy. The activities of the association are aimed at the development of participants` regional business and other tasks formed with consideration of the interests of local business communities.
While implementing regional digitalization programs, an idea was born of creating a RACIB Premium Club cashback service, in which its own token would be used as the internal currency. Due to the current lack of a legislative framework governing relations in the cryptocurrency industry in the Russian Federation, it was decided to create a loyalty bonus program first, planning a subsequent transition in the technical, financial and legal architecture of the program to blockchain technology and token programs.
RAKIB was choosing a partner capable to design and implement such a service, take on the processing of the program and ensure that the project can be switched to blockchain technology after the relevant regulation appears.
By the time the collaboration began, members of the Joys team had already had the appropriate competencies to accomplish the task. It was decided to use the existing experience and developments of the Joys team in order to gradually launch the project as soon as possible.

An open API POS has been implemented for the exchange of customers` data, as well as bonuses and discounts available to them, between the server and the cash registers of the participating enterprises. More than a dozen ready-made integration solutions make it easy to connect cash registers and work with a loyalty program without changing the usual business processes of a sale. For businesses that use their own developed sales solutions, a mobile application for the cashier "Checker"; is available allowing to add and accept bonus points.

Mobile application for iOS and Android platforms, thanks to which users can:
- use a digital loyalty card at points of sales;
- get latest information about partners, their conditions, promotions and contacts;
- track the history of purchases and change of balance of your wallet;
- receive push notifications of promotional offers and events.
Participating enterprises receive a direct communication channel with customers and the ability to communicate important information about themselves to the entire user base attracting new customers to their points of sales.
This solution provided the ability to adjust settings and conditions of the loyalty program, create and publish content, send newsletters and track statistics on all transactions within the program through a single interface.
This solution fully automates the processing of the coalition program and allows you to use bonus points at any of the points of sales connected to the RACIB Premium Club program, regardless of where they were received. At the same time, full billing of added and used points is conducted. The architecture of the project is completely ready for the transition to blockchain technology. In the future, it will be possible to integrate payment for goods and services with JOYS cryptocurrency.
Data exchange occurs via the HTTPS protocol with the RSA 2048 encryption key. This protocol is used in the banking sector to conduct cash transactions.
«VEB coins» - blockchain private payment service developed on JAS technology
A solution has been created for the possibility of mutual settlements between the Vnesheconombank (VEB) Digital Transformation Center and its residents, which includes:
- Private blockchain network with accounting system;
- POS-solution for tracking of purchases;
- Mobile payment applications for Residents;
- Office of the payment service.
The largest expert center in Russia, combining all the most advanced competencies for the implementation of blockchain projects The VEB Digital Transformation Center proposed to create for its own needs a private payment service operating within the technology park for its own employees and resident companies.
The task was to completely replace the cash payments of employees and residents for all services in the Center, for example, "breakfast in a cafe" or "rental of meeting rooms" with payments in the Center's own tokens.
After considering the options, we focused on creating a private blockchain network and developing specialized "clients" for it: for users - in the form of mobile applications, administrative one - for management, verification and settlements, as well as POS-clients - the necessary software for payment acceptance points.
Payment in «tokens» is not a payment in the usual meaning, it is a record of the actual use of the service or the right to use the service once over a certain period or without restrictions.
Tokens can be used by companies that are residents of the Center: they can pay for various services in its territory.
Residents receive tokens by making an advance payment for the services of the Center, and they pay for the reservation of meeting rooms, rental of workplaces, software or photography services.
In case the service is free, for example, coffee at the central cafe, tokens allow you to track how many portions were consumed by a company`s employee. The system is also convenient for settlements with a catering company.
Payment is recorded using the expenditure transaction — adding data to the distributed registry, providing the service with the following values:
- organization or employee of the organization;
- cost item;
- number of «tokens».
The cost item analyzes the expenditure transaction to determine what service was paid for in this transaction and is used for reporting.

Mobile applications for iOS and Android platforms are actually secure digital wallets with the possibility of replenishment, transfer, and payment.

In the management interface, the Service Administrator has the option to transfer tokens to selected wallets of organizations or employees. For making it possible to accept tokens, solutions for points of sales and online booking service were developed.
POS web application is developed for the touch interface and runs on tablets installed in all places that provide paid services.
This application allows you to:
- Select the desired item and add to the bill.
- Generate a QR code according to the bill to be read by the buyer. An ultrasonic label can also be generated, which will be automatically read by the buyer's smartphone and will display the bill`s data.
- Receive information from the blockchain network about the receipt of payments
- Track bill payments or cancel transactions.
- The online booking service allows you to select, reserve and pay for any available service of the Center.
The Joys team developed a scalable private payment service which is used by employees and residents of the VEB Digital Transformation Center.
The usability of the service is confirmed by the customer. As a next step, plans for expanding functionality are already being discussed.

Voting system using blockchain technology
We created a voting system using blockchain technology, which includes mobile applications and an interactive web page for voting.
The VEB Digital Transformation Center requested to create a system for determining the best speaker at the conference by a secret ballot for those present. To ensure transparency and openness of the platform, it was proposed to implement a voting system on the blockchain.
The developed "clients" - mobile voting applications for iOS and Android platforms, and an interactive voting web page, which was displayed on large screens in the hall and lobby, - were connected to a specially deployed blockchain network.
Before the conference, all participants were asked to install a mobile application, after logging in in which they could vote.
To be able to cast their vote, after the conference, the participants scanned the QR code of one of the speakers from the screen of the voting page and confirmed their choice. Receiving each vote, the system automatically updated the voting results.
The Joys team, using their competence in the field of blockchain and mobile development, created a convenient and universal solution for determining winners or ranking by secret ballot.
We integrated the technology of transferring information via ultrasound into the existing payment service to make it possible to pay for goods and services at points of sale.
As part of developing a private payment service, earlier developed by Joys, the VEB Digital Transformation Center, requested to add the possibility to scan QR codes in a new way - "payment via ultrasound". to existing payment method at points of sale.
As a result of the research conducted on examples of the use of information transmission technology via ultrasound in the world, it was decided to add a module to the service developed by ourselves.
There were also created libraries for iOS and Android platform smartphones allowing the applications "to hear ultrasound" and respond to it according to the set logic.
So, tablets with the installed POS web application, after forming the bill, transmitted it via ultrasound using the mounted speaker, and the Buyers, being in close proximity to the cash register, could then receive a message on their smartphones about the account structure and offer to pay for it.
The Joys team created the solution to exchange information about payments via ultrasound and integrated it into the existing service.
Residents and guests of the Center highly appreciated the possibilities of the technology, being surprised by the new possibilities of their smartphones.
Now the possibility of contactless payment has become available for any iOS and Android devices, and not just for those that have an NFC-module.
Transfer of discounts and coupons to users' smartphones via ultrasound
We integrated the technology of transmitting information via ultrasound into the existing payment service to make it possible to deliver discounts and coupons to users' smartphones.
The following question was asked to our team: "Is it possible to automatically give discounts and coupons to those people who are in a certain place, for example, near a cafe or in its lobby?"
The VEB Digital Transformation Center planned to introduce this service for all its residents.
To enable the transfer of discounts and coupons, in the specified places of the Center, wide directional speakers were installed via which ultrasound was transmitted containing information about discounts or coupons. The range of the speaker covers up to 10 meters. Getting into such a zone, the user's smartphone displays information about offers and the possibility to accept or refuse it. At the same time, the Service remembers the user's actions for each such offer, which allows avoiding repeated notifications.
The Joys team created a service for creating and delivering discounts and coupons to users' smartphones that are located in strictly defined areas.
Ultrasonic personal Guide-assistant
We created an interactive help technology telling visitors about the exhibits.
Current existing solutions to support museum and gallery visitors are based on scanning QR codes of a specific exhibit in order to get comprehensive information about it.
To implement a new, more convenient approach, the VEB Digital Transformation Center, at the exhibition of paintings organized by itself, proposed to implement the possibility of informing visitors in a new way - via ultrasound, in order to abandon permanent scanning of codes.
Detailed data on each picture were input into a specially created information system, and an ultrasonic tag was assigned to each picture.
Visitors were invited to install on their smartphones the application created for this event - "Mobile Guide".
When a visitor was in front of the picture, full information about the painting was shown on his/her on the phone.
In order to send such an information message with extremely high accuracy, we installed narrow directed speakers that transmitted the necessary ultrasonic tags.
The Joys team created the "Mobile Guide" service based on user-friendly ultrasound technology.
